About PaintballCarnage
It was after playing a few games of paintball at the local paintball site in
Edinburgh, that a few of us started to think it might be fun if we could play
anytime we wanted and not pay the extortionate prices the big sites charge for
paintballs. Yes it is all very well charging only £10 for a full days
paintballing but to enjoy that day to the full it was costing a fortune at £15
per 100 paintballs. I know these places need to make money but to play
regularly, going to these places was not an option.
We had the good fortune of knowing someone
with a huge area of land with some nice woodland. After some enquiries, we had
permission to use it for paintball, we were all set. About 6 - 8 friends and
family sounded keen to give it ago but none had really looked into exactly what
was required in the way of markers, equipment etc and with the cost of
everything mounting, some were having second thoughts.
No one seemed to be keen to commit so I took
the plunge and purchased all my paintball equipment first. The ball was now
rolling and a few more soon followed, buying a range of markers from BT4's,
Proto Matrix to Tippmann X7's.
We have been going now since the beginning of
October 2008 and the group is growing every month. What started out as a small
team of about 6, has now reached about 15 strong.
It is still early days and quite a bit of our
time is spend working away in the woodland, clearing fallen trees, building
barricades and clearing low branches to allow for easy movement throughout the
game zone. It won't be done over night but we expect to have completed it by
Spring 2009.
